As a practice, we are avid lovers of craft and artisanship, a favourite in the office being the Petersen brick which bears all the hallmarks of its production, even down to the thumbprint of the maker. The idea brought to us by the client was to have something which referenced the existing mid-century house and its materiality. For the landscaping, we used pure forms and angular geometry to contrast with the less structured nature of the vegetation. The spaces in between the planting form impromptu seating and places to linger, reflect and observe.
