Building within a conservation area provides a lot of challenges but also opportunities. Working on Brand Street allowed us to provide an exciting addition and to make subtle nods to the historic architecture while making refined stylistic choices. The project features a whole house renovation as well as a timber structure rear extension. By readjusting the internal configuration we were able to introduce a feeling of spaciousness in and around the house contrasting its previously compartmentalised layout. Using a timber structure and cladding system, we were able to create a contrast with the existing architecture while allowing contemporary touches to reflect the existing elements.
